I'm getting multiple calls a week asking to set up a time to meet, I've politely declined but these guys aren't taking a hint. We thought we'd always have to attend once in awhile to keep family happy but at this point we just want to switch halls and fade out completely, if we're in a different hall any consequences will be easier to deal with. switching will be pretty easy, there's 4-6 congregations that we can switch to without having to move. My question is when we switch do we even show up to the new hall ever? Go once or twice? What's the best way to do this? -

Why did the org "forgive" KH mortgages?
by Magnum ini know this has been discussed, but i think it's good that topics like this get brought back up from time to time for the sake of newbies and lurkers, plus, i have a question (related at end of post).. the org brags about "forgiving" kh mortgages as if it's so loving and giving.
i put the word in quotation marks because most of us realize it wasn't forgiving anything.
the new arrangement should actually bring it far more money.. for example, suppose there are twenty congregations total.

I think the whole change was about consistent cash flow. The congregations that didn't have a loan weren't donating a ton of money, and it varied from month to month. It would spike after a part on the service meeting about donating, guilt people into giving, then after awhile people would give less. With the new change you know exactly how much money you're getting every month. Why "forgive" the loans? Because the loans had an end date. The new arrangement doesn't. Its just much easier to plan buying/building stuff when you know what your income is every month. There's no guessing game at corporate HQ, you know what you're getting every month. -

JWs and their views on Sex
by campaign of hate inin the past i have read on this forum that the wt have a say in the "bedroom" of couples.
i thought that was a bit overkill at first, but recently i have come to conclusion that this is true.. the control administered by the wt cooperation on ones sex life is not on only intrusive, its damaging.
they control every aspect of ones thought and action, thus leading most down a path that said corporation wants them to tread.. this path is to get married young, and then eternal loyalty the the organisation.. so how can an organisation force you to get married young?.

this reminded me of a couple things I heard about sex and dating from elders growing up.
1. Since after sex, a man and women were considered unclean, until the next day or something, can't remember the specifics, jehovah doesn't want us having sex that often. This was from a never married elder in his 40's at the time.
2. "Don't date a girl until you're sure you want to marry her." Even at the time it seemed like really really bad advice.

Updated Chronological Timeline of the Great Tribulation -- after the New Light from July Watchtower
by FusionTheism inthe july 15, 2015 study watchtower article entitled "your deliverance is getting near", along with the jw broadcasting video entitled "gerrit losch: fortified by "the prophetic word," and chapter 21 of the god's kingdom rules!
book presented a large amount of new light or clarified understanding of the events of the great tribulation.. here i am presenting it in chronological order -- this is the governing body's updated chronological order of events for the time right before the great tribulation through armageddon:.
the final sealing of the anointed occurs just prior to the outbreak of the tribulation.

Thanks for posting this, started my day off with a good laugh! So the UN will turn on the Catholics, then ISIS? Sounds reasonable! -

4 years ago in Tampa Florida this happened over party celebrations during holiday with 10 year old. No discipline was delivered because of age and lack of understanding.
Wait, so at 10 they have the mental capacity to dedicate their lives to god for all eternity, but they lack the understanding to know if a holiday party is "wrong"? Yup makes perfect sense!

comet, a real Witness, to put it in a nutshell, is one who believes that the GB is the FDS.So you believe God is directing the gb? On all decisions? Some? Allowing them to be wrong? Directing them to be wrong? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or snarky, I once believed in god directing the gb. Just curious as to your thoughts. -

RealWitness, there are less than a handful of real Witnesses here, me being one of them, and the admins are not Witnesses.
What is a real witness? someone who is active and reports time? Goes to meetings? Doesn't visit apostate websites? Believes witness doctrine is actual truth? Watcher, what is the answer?

How hard is it to attend a congregation outside of the territory where you live? Consequences for doing so.
by hoser ini need to change congregation but stay living in the same place.
any experience with this.

I think less than 50% of the people in my hall live in the territory. I didn't realize this was still a taboo thing. -

Just to echo most of the other comments on this thread..it can't ever be totally brought down. It's a business with free labor and zero taxes. The business model they had for many years, publishing company, stopped being viable. Even though they were/are slow to realize this, they have morphed into a real estate company. It seems to me they have amassed enough real estate holdings to keep them going for many decades. The notion of some doctrinal change/shift will cause people to leave is wrong imo. Yes a few will leave, but for the most part, the people who contribute money, the U.S. Western Europe etc. doctrine doesn't matter to them as a whole. I beat the "no one cares about doctrine" drum often, because in urban liberal areas it's the truth, 85% don't know and don't really care.
